Unemployment For The ‘gods’

wpid-wp-1409207782744.jpegA few hours before a Lagos based taxi driver told me about a disease called “Ashewo Syndrome“, I had been engaged in a conversation with a member of my church.

Ade, (not real name) is a young, good looking fella with an exciting, cartoon-like personality.

I know he’s a member of both the media and drama teams and we have always had an hello-hi relationship, but for the first time, we actually got talking.

This was after three years of being workers in the same church. SMH…but better now, than never.

We had been chatting about some random stuff when I said, “I think you’ll make a great TV or radio presenter”.

That’s how we got talking about unemployment, opportunities that almost never come, man-know-man syndrome and all what-not…

He told me about all these and I told him about “creation”.

I’m like…
Why wait for something to come your way? Why wait for an employer to show your potentials mercy? Why hang your destiny on chance? Why? Why? Why?

Have you forgotten that “ye are gods” (Psalm 82:6 Holy Bible) and as far as I know, gods create.

So why not create something to (at least), keep yourself occupied instead of keeping your talents, intelligence and destiny in limbo, just because a “white collar job” has not come along.
Come to think of it… the entrepreneur or business (wo)man who established the company you want to work for had seized life by the neck and created something.

I went further to Ade that this same mentality caused me to start this blog and has also made me want to be consistent.

I’m exploring all my potentials. I want to die empty.

You might say it is easy for me to say – those who have no jobs should go and wave a magic wand… and voilà, something profitable is created – just because I have a job.

Not so! Even before I was gainfully employed, I had always wanted to “do something”, “keep myself occupied”, “expand my horizon” but top of all… I had decided that nothing would stop me from being a god.

Therefore, I must go on creating. Profit or not.

You do not need to seek wealth immediately as whatever you choose to create may not bring financial gain (immediately) but as long as it is something you love to do… go ahead and start doing. It will be worth your while.

At the end of our 15 minutes (or there about) chat, I was able to convince Ade to start something to showcase his talents. (The internet is your friend).

I hope I have been able to make you see why you are too great, too divinely formed to WAIT for opportunities.

GO AND CREATE, TODAY!!!

(Share this with someone who’s creative and intelligent BUT is on the very long list of those tagged “unemployed”).

Nice piece. God created the world out of nothingness and I believe if anyone genuinely desire to better their life the legitimate way(i’m a living example) God’s wisdom will endow them with ideas to recreate their life for better. Whatever it is, thrust all your energies into it and God’s grace will help you achieve

Another well written and in inspiring piece. I have always encouraged and written about the need for us to look inward and ‘Create’ or ‘Self Create’ something rather than waiting for a job that may never come. After all,the well known multi national companies and great business empires round the world today including others currently crawling were birthed by individuals and groups like us. The one head and brain they possess is what we also have. Though many of us suffer from the fear of the unknown which has really hindered us from taking that bold step.

Well it was more like 25 mins, but time flies wen you’re speaking life. As I said that day, your depth is exceeded only by the grace exhibited in your life. Nice piece once again.
